Authorities have formally charged a 32-year-old man in connection with the mass stabbing that occurred Saturday evening on a train heading towards London.
Anthony Williams, a resident of Peterborough in central England, faces a formidable total of ten counts of attempted murder following the incident. In addition to the primary charges, Williams is also accused of actual bodily harm and possession of a knife relating to the train attack.
Furthermore, officials confirmed that Williams faces separate legal proceedings stemming from an unrelated incident in London that same day, which include one additional count of attempted murder and another charge of knife possession.
Tracy Easton, representing the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), confirmed the rigorous nature of the investigation, noting it had involved a “huge volume of evidence, including CCTV.” She directly addressed the severity of the attack, acknowledging the “devastating impact the events on Saturday’s train has had and how the incident shocked the entire country.” She emphasized that their thoughts remain with all those affected.
Williams is scheduled to appear in court in Peterborough at a later date.
